Stirling Engines of Saitama University

Japanese

Note:

The Dynamics of Machinery Laboratory (Prof. Iwamoto), Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Saitama University had studyed and developed the Stirling engines till March 1998. But the laboratory is not studying the Stilring engine now, because Prof. Iwamoto has retired from Saitama University on March 31, 1998.
Follows are the web pages which was made by Iwamoto's students in these days.

Welcome to Stirling engines of Saitama university page !

...The main field of our laboratory research regerds STIRLING ENGINE. Stirling engines are able to use any heat source and are easy on the environment. From the characteristics of Stirling engines to the research contents of our laboratory, we may introduce them widely with this home page.

Contents of research

@At present, the world has important problems such as energy and the environment, thus we need power source that is clean and has a low impact on the environment. Fossil fuels will be drying up in near future. Because off this, we will need new power sources that use clean energy such as solar, windpower, waterpower, geothermal heat and the like. We are researching low temperature difference Stirling engines which use low grade heat sources such as hot springs or exhaust gases, to solve these problems.
@The power of low temperature Stirling engine which use low heat source is less than ones that use higher heat sources, and it's heat efficiency to be low. The earth has alot of low temperature heat sources, we think that using this energy effectively is going to be extremely significant in the future.
@Can Stirling engines actually use every heat source? And in that case, are there technical problems?
